This tool is actively tested in Google Chrome.  Internet Explorer / Edge browsers in particular may have issues and features are not guaranteed to work.

VIDEO: Filling out the Forecast Discussions tab (~15min)

The Forecast Discussion tab contains 4 sub-tabs; Fire Forecast, Smoke Forecast, Author/Links and Special Statement to enter each information element. The bottom portion of sub-tabs contain a Version box where you can view your 3 versions:
Published:  the version of text of the last published outlook
Saved Draft: the version that was last saved but not published
Current Edit: and any real time edits you have made 

Saving Your Work 

DRAFT: The blue "Save Forecast Discussion" button will save changes made to all 4 sub-tabs (Fire Forecast, Smoke Forecast, Author/Links and Special Statement). This save button does not check for required fields and is meant to be used to save your draft as you work through creating your outlook

FINAL CHECK TO PUBLISH: The "Save / Preview" button saves all your work but also checks for required fields. You cannot proceed to preview your outlook and publish it until all required fields have been filled.

Fire Forecast

Minimum required: A single fire "Name" and "Activity" specified OR check "Numerous Fires" and "Activity". Standard "canned statement" will be built using fire info that is entered, this info is displayed in pdf version and online version.

"Discussion" box is for adding a additional fire info and is optional as needed. Displayed in online version only.

Smoke Forecast

Minimum required: Smoke Discussion is a required field

The entire discussion is displayed in the online version and pdf version, be mindful of length given that the pdf version has a set limit on how much text it can hold

Author / Links

Minimum required: The "Issued by" field must contain the ARA's name and contact info, example:  Smokey Bear, sbear@email.com. This info displayed in online version and pdf version

Websites: List link name and URLs that are important to include can be added here as well along with listing other outlooks nearby.

Special Statement

All fields are optional

Alerts section (optional) for common advisories and warnings issued (heat advisory, air quality advisory, etc) where only the advisory type and URL need to be entered and the statement builder will generate consistent message. 

Health Statement (optional) check to include this standard statement in your outlook. Can be useful if in an area where local population may be less aware of risks from wildfire smoke.

Final Statement (optional) highly recommended to check if it's the final outlook. Standard statement will be included in outlook.

Discussion (optional) catch all for other items important to include in the outlook (closures, etc)
